I find a certain romantic fascination with the reclamation of man-made designs by nature; I aimed to capture that theme with this piece.
This lonely and abandoned 1970's beetle is 54,157 Tris.; It was modeled in 3ds Max, sculpted in ZBrush, baked and rendered in Marmoset Toolbag 3, and textured in Substance Painter and Photoshop. I created all of the environmental assets myself, photographing plants and landscape in my backyard and converting them to usable textures inside Substance Alchemist and Photoshop.
I learned a lot creating this scene, from rust layering techniques to moss texturing and build up.
Special thanks to Hugues Giboire (https://www.artstation.com/hugues_giboire) for lending a critical eye along the way, and his guidance with lighting and composition.
